Confidence, Energy: Are opportunities slipping through your grasp? Do you feel like you’re stuck in an energetic rut? Finding strength and willpower to tackle an unpleasant situation can be difficult, but the spirit of the tiger totem is one that carries a powerful message. The tiger spirit guide is often depicted as a totem of great passion, but while tigers can travel great distances in short periods of time, they often spend upwards of 80% of their time resting and conserving their energy.

These great hunters don’t like to waste their efforts and when choosing to expend energy prefer to get a strong return on their investment. If an opportunity presents itself, this spirit totem animal will not hesitate to pounce on it! In other words, if you feel that your spirit energy is being wasted, that you’re in a rut, do as the tiger totem does. Find a choice place with the right conditions, wait patiently for an opportunity, and then go for it!

Independence, Determination: Do you struggle in a team environment? Are you having difficulty with an important task, or do you feel like no matter how hard you try you’re not reaching your objectives? Tiger spirit is a solitary hunter and spends a great deal of time stalking the forest alone in search of prey. This powerful totem animal must rely solely on their own strength and cunning to survive. If you find yourself struggling in a team environment it is very important for the associated tasks to be clearly delegated.

Tiger totem spirit is a symbol for perseverance and determination, even the most experienced and healthy tigers only catch their prey in one out of twenty attempts. You may fail many times before catching that elusive prey, or completing that difficult task! The key is to be patient, use tried and true methods, repeat them if necessary, don’t get frustrated… get determined!

Silence, Solitude: Are distractions keeping you from moving forward in life? Are you drawing unwanted attention to yourself, or are your words getting you into trouble? A solitary, silent hunter, tiger totem as a spirit animal is a symbol of removing all distractions from the mind and being 100% focused on the present moment. Once a tiger totem has identified a potential prey its focus becomes laser sharp, don’t allow the sounds and movements of the heard to distract you, stay focused on your goals.

In the media, tiger spirit totem is often depicted roaring and rushing at their prey. In the wild however, this is not the case. These powerful predators wait in silence along game trails, stalk their prey for extended periods of time, all the while silently creeping closer and closer. One snap of a twig, or too quick of a movement, can send intended prey dashing into the distance. If your words or actions are being noticed or are being interpreted as negative, you should take a step back. Slow down, don’t rush forward too early, or all that careful planning and maneuvering could be for nothing!

I found my animal spirit unexpectedly in an underworld journey one day. I did not want to romanticize about any attractive animal and started my search with no preconceived ideas. So, in underworld, I kept waiting in a sunny meadow. Nothing showed up for a long time. Just when I was ready to give up and return to the middle world, the clouds arrived, the air became charged with electricity, and a gentle rain started. Day turned to early evening. And there she/he was: This magnificent cat came towards me as I watched her back moving in the high grass. She stopped by me. Warm and calm cat expected and got my immediate acceptance and affection…I was very happy to meet her. After this journey, I read about tigers and learnt that, tigers are indeed nocturnal, water loving animals that live in shady and humid tropical forests. They are quiet, powerful and solitary just like I felt my tiger was.

  3. Thank you for your help. I fell asleep last night with the intention of meeting my spirit animal, and was greatly surprised to have my first dream about a tiger. We were in a luxurious yard, and I saw it there, sitting. It was so big and powerful and scary looking and I kept thinking about how its teeth and claws could instantly rip me apart. But it told me through feeling to come closer. I started petting it and it started purring. Then I started scratching its ear and it rolled on its back. Then I rolled on my back and we started playing. Then we started running and having fun. I awoke.

I have long since had a connection with tigers. Tigers have a habitof popping up in my dreams very often, especially a white one with green eyes. In my heart I know she is my companion in the Dreamworld and the Underworld. Yes, I have been there on a few occasions. In each one, she has been there. Through mind we communicate. I know her name is Sylia.

I have been aware of my tiger for several years now and recently have seen more of it. We have gotten to the point where we are one and the same, one spirit, one entity. We walk side by side but see through each other’s eyes and I definitely feel his energy and strength. My tiger often appears to me as if I am inside its massive head looking out. When I’m out walking in the night air, he walks beside me, the size of a horse and heavily muscled. He is solid white, with glowing blue eyes and moves as a spirit does. I can’t imagine life without him and I’m sure when the day comes when I leave this world, he and I will truly be one spirit.
